Chinese New Year ‘08

For the three years when I was studying in Perth, my family didn’t really get the chance to celebrate Chinese New Year. My brothers and I had to go to school in the morning. And in the evening, my mom would prepare many delicious dishes. We would get our red packets after and the five of us would just chat non-stop at the table. Spending CNY that way was very different but it was fun in a way. It was more relaxing I must admit. No visiting houses. And no visitors.

This year, we finally got the chance to really celebrate CNY. We shopped like crazy. We decorated the house. We had lots and lots of vistors. We had tonnes of food. We chatted. We laughed. We gambled. And red packets were handed out. I got RM2000+ I think this year. Awesome!

Here are some photos to share:

Chinese New Year’s Eve

Chinese New Year’s Eve was at our house.

Asian Food!

First table. Some of the dishes…

More food!

Second table. My grandma brought one dish with her. My aunt, too. My awesome mom cooked the rest.

Mahjong

We don’t really know how to play mahjong. We were playing just for fun…

Red wine!

Red wine. I had some. It tasted okay.

Chinese New Year!

The first day of CNY. My mom was…I don’t know. Just a random shot.

The Saturday of the CNY week was my dad’s father’s (my grandpa) birthday…I think. And we had dinner outside. Cutting cake was again at our house. Check out the photos:

My grandmas!

Most of you know that I don’t usually post photos of myself or my family members. This is the first time. Meet my two most awesomest grandmothers. The left one is my mom’s mother. She is the nicest! And look at the kindest smile in the world! The right one is my dad’s mother. She is the funniest! I just love the way she talks!

The cake!

The cake! Yumm…

This year’s Chinese New Year was awesome. I caught up with so many wonderful people and I had so much fun! And before this, I never really realized how blessed I am. I have amazing parents, brothers, grandparents, and extended family. Truly, I couldn’t ask for more. I am so very blessed.
